People about to go on holidays to Goa may be interested to know that the area is currently experiencing record temperatures for the time of year.

According to the Financial Times of India, the mercury rose to 37.2 degrees C on Wednesday (October 15th), while the normal temperature for this month is usually 32 degrees C.

"From available records, this has been the highest temperature for the month of October since 1971," said meteorologist KV Singh.

Forecasters say it may remain hot for some time, as long as the current north-easterly winds continue to blow.

Meanwhile, Elvis Gomes of the Goa Tourism Development Corporation has said he wants to promote Goa as a safe and vibrant holiday destination for tourists in order to encourage more people to visit, reports the Indian Express.
