Emirates to increase flights to IndiaPeople going on holidays to India may find it easier to get there as of this month, with Emirates Airlines announcing that it is to increase services to the south Asian country.

The Dubai-based carrier has said it will provide an additional 31 flights a week, taking the number of weekly flights to India to 163.

Mumbai and New Delhi will see the most new services, with Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi and Hyderabad also to benefit.

Salem Obaidalla, the senior vice-president for commercial operations for the airline, said that the new flights will offer travellers more convenient schedules and better connections to other destinations.

"Owing to the liberalisation of the Indian skies and growing demand for air travel, Emirates is extending its presence in India," he commented.

Emirates Airlines is the seventh largest carrier in the world in terms of international passengers, having carried 21.2 million during the 2007-08 financial year.
