Britons on holiday are culture vulturesBritons abroad - including those on holidays to Thailand and India - are keen to embrace their destination's culture during their break, it has been found.

A poll carried out by Saga found that 55 per cent are eager to try new foods, while ten per cent try wearing traditional clothing while on holidays.

In addition, one in ten said they have participated in an extreme sport abroad, perhaps a bungee jump or paragliding, that they would not have tried at home.

Saga chief executive Andrew Goodsell said: "It's good to see that people enjoy themselves when abroad and embrace the local culture."

A spokesperson for Heineken also recently said that Britons are keen to emulate the countryfolk of their holiday destination - a poll carried out by the firm found that 33 per cent of people now slip in foreign words into their English sentences as a result of a holiday.
