Get prepared before travelling, holidaymakers urgedPeople going abroad, including those heading on holidays to India and Dubai, have been warned to make appropriate preparations before they go.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) said that bookings to destinations outside the eurozone will increase in 2009 as people seek to save money, but that people need to do their research before they go.

Frances Tuke from Abta remarked: "Over the past few years we have seen travellers becoming more adventurous and travelling further afield and this will continue in 2009."

However, she added that people need to find out if they will need vaccinations before they travel, as well as doing research on things like driving and cultural laws to avoid getting into trouble.

In related news, a recent poll carried out by Saga found that people on holiday are keen to embrace their destination's culture during their break, with 55 per cent trying new foods and ten per cent trying traditional clothing.Meet the editors...
