Virgin Atlantic cuts Upper Class faresIn what could be good news for people travelling on flights to Mumbai, Dubai and other destinations, Virgin Atlantic has announced that it is to cut the price of its fares for Upper Class passengers.

The carrier said costs could fall by as much as 40 per cent when the reductions come in today (January 9th), with a review due for January 27th.

Virgin Atlantic chief executive Steve Ridgway said the move is aimed at helping to fight the recession and to assist businesses.

"These lower Upper Class fares will enable small and medium-sized businesses in particular to do deals and meet contacts around the world and help get the global economy moving again," he commented.

Last month, Virgin also announced that it is to reduce its fuel surcharges after sustained falls in the price of crude oil, with fares cut by up to £70 on a return flight, depending on the class and the destination.
