Sort out visas well in advance, tourists warnedAnyone going abroad soon, including on holidays to Goa, has been urged to make sure that they have the correct travel documents such as visas.

Many people leave this until the last minute, which Peter Smith of Travelsupermarket.com said could be dangerous in case they are declined, since it leaves people no time to reapply.

He also said that this is a risk in terms of travel cover.

"Your travel insurance will not support you if your visa has been declined. You won't get a payout if you can't travel due to your visa being declined," Mr Smith remarked.

The company also found that one in ten people do not know how long they have left until their passport expires.

Anyone going on holidays to Goa will need a visa to enter. The requirements for this are a full passport with six months to run, the correct visa fee and a visa application form completed online.
