Britons are planning their holidays carefullyPeople in the UK are planning their summer breaks - perhaps including holidays to Thailand - now as they seek to save as much money as they can.

This is according to Sian Williams, spokesperson for price comparison site trivago, who said that most people are looking at cheaper destinations, as well as thinking further ahead than they may have done had there been no credit crunch.

"People are looking to find the best rates for their holiday and people really seem to be trying to plan ahead," she commented.

The firm recently found that 35 per cent of Britons plan to consider the cost of their holidays more carefully in 2009.

Meanwhile, a survey carried out by Visit London and VisitBritain and published in December found that 90 per cent of the population are reducing their day-to-day spending, perhaps so they can have more money to spend on their summer breaks.
