Holidays to India show off the land of the maharajasA writer has said that he recently took a thoroughly luxurious holiday to India with his family in order to relax and recharge the batteries.

In an article for the Telegraph, Dylan Jones said he took his wife and two young daughters on his own version of the Golden Triangle route, starting at Delhi and then going to Agra, Jaipur and Udaipur.

"This is the most travelled circuit in the country and with good reason - it has some of India's best palaces, best scenery and - crucially - best hotels," he pointed out.

The family stayed in five-star hotels and enjoyed being pampered in the mornings and at night, while taking trips every other day in order to see delights such as the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Jaipur's pink city.

Mr Jones particularly recommended visiting India in summer in order to escape from the crowds of other tourists.

Earlier this month it was reported that holidays to Indian spa breaks are on the up as people seek the ultimate in relaxation.
