Mumbai is a city of "genuine warmth" and has great potential for photography, a travel writer has said.

"It's a palette more intense and vibrant than most major cities; if you peel back one layer, you might reveal a hundred more. The prospect is overwhelming," wrote Jean-Paul Pelosi for the Sydney Morning Herald.

Travellers flying to Mumbai will find it is a city full of energy that never stops moving, he added.

He went on to say that it is a place of possibilities and the colours of the streets - browns, dusty reds, yellows, oranges, blues, pinks, greens and greys - offer a perfect scene for a photograph or two.

Mumbai is the most populated city in the world with a population of approximately 16.4 million people.
