Anyone flying to India, Thailand or Australia with Finnair this summer may be able to avoid the queues of the peak holiday period by checking in in advance, the carrier advises.

Anyone flying to India, Thailand or Australia with Finnair this summer may be able to avoid the queues of the peak holiday period by checking in in advance, the carrier advises.

"We recommend using Finnair's online or text message check-in service or the self-service check-in kiosks at the airport. They speed up your passage through the airport considerably," said Markku Remes, customer experience development manager at the airline.

He added that the self-check-in kiosks can even be used if travellers are transporting special items such as golf clubs or sports equipment.

Online check-in can be used for most destinations for the return flight as well and it can be done as early as 36 hours prior to the flight, explained the airline.

People can also check-in via a text message service, which can be activated online or by calling Finnair.
