Brits on the hunt for cheap destinationsBritish travellers are searching for destinations where "you get more bang for your buck" during the current economic downturn, it has been claimed.

According to Luke Fredberg of TripAdvisor, holidaymakers want to go to places where "money is going to go further" and where sterling is reasonably strong against local currencies.

He added that the recession "puts more and more emphasis on relaxation and really chilling out" during a break, as it accounts for more of many people's disposable income.

A recent study by TripAdvisor indicated that Britons spend an average of two hours and 53 minutes per day sunbathing on holiday.

Meanwhile, research by American Express Insurance Services found that Britons are choosing to escape the UK for summer sunshine in "unknown destinations" this year, such as taking holidays to India.ADNFCR-1809-ID-19223687-ADNFCR
