For those planning holidays to India a tiger safari in Ranthambore National Park in India is a chance to see the big cats in the wild, it has been reported.

According to the Daily Mail, the 19-square mile reserve in the state of Rajasthan is home to just 25 to 34 tigers.

However, the news source reports that many of the people encountered during a safari are keen to help visitors see them.

Travelling through the park with a driver and a naturalist, it is also possible to see crocodiles, wild boar, antelopes, storks, monkeys, parakeets, elephants and mongoose, the newspaper reports.

With just 6,000 tigers thought to be left in the world, over 100,000 people a year visit Ranthambore each year in the hope of observing them in the wild.
