The Andaman Islands are an Indian holiday heavenAn island resort in India has been described as one travel journalist's "holiday heaven" in the Bay of Bengal, a newspaper has reported.

"There must be few places in the world as unspoilt as the Andaman Islands," explained Tamara Abraham, writing for the Daily Mail.

She added: "They boast pristine white beaches, blissful turquoise seas and a balmy climate."

Ms Abraham visited Havelock Island in the Bay of Bengal where all of the beaches are numbered instead of named.

Accommodation at beach seven for the writer was a pink tent on the waterfront, complete with room to stand up, a fan and a bathroom.

In the evenings, the beach-front bar became full of friendly tourists enjoying the bongo and drum music accompanied by local rum, she wrote.

She advised people looking for a holiday in India to head to the Andaman Islands, before they become a mainstream tourist destination.

According to Conde Nast traveller, the Barefoot resort on Havelock Island was voted the best beach in Asia by Time Magazine and is the only ecologically-friendly destination in the chain of islands. Meet the editors...
