Finnair prepared for medical emergencies on all flightsPassengers flying with Finnair can sit a little more comfortably in their seats as the airline has announced an extension to its online medical emergency service.

According to the carrier, there are several dozen instances each year where a passenger experiences a serious medical emergency.

Now, a 24-hour medical service designed to deal with any illnesses that occur during a flight has been rolled out across Finnair's long-haul network and Leisure flights, it has revealed.

"With the aid of the medical emergency centres, Finnair's aircraft now have expert assistance available 24 hours a day for all cases of illness that occur on flights," the company said.

On board all of the airline's aircraft, a "doctor's bag" will be on hand as well as defibrillators on long-haul flights to stimulate the heart.

Finnair offers flights to India, Thailand, Dubai, Australia and South Africa, as well as many other destinations, from the UK.
