Continental Airlines launches live TV on flightsPassengers booking a flight with Continental Airlines may find that their inflight experience may become more entertaining.

The carrier has announced that 15 of its aircraft have been fitted with DirectTV, which will offer holidaymakers the choice of some 77 live TV channels.

It added that it hopes to have the service installed across its entire fleet of aircraft by the end of next year (2010).

Travellers heading to a long-haul destination, such as a flight to India, will eventually be able to watch programmes such as news, weather, live sports and children's shows on a service that has more channels than any other airline.

"Our customers are enjoying DirectTV. Even in these tough economic times, we continue to invest in product features that customers value," said executive vice-president of marketing for the company Jim Compton.

Travellers taking a flight to India for a holiday in August may wish to visit the Maharashtra coast for Coconut Day.

Also known as Narali Purnima, the event symbolises the end of the monsoon season.Meet the editors...
