Indian arts festival 'to be held in South Africa'

The third annual Shared Histories Festival has been announced in South Africa.

Indian arts festival to be held in South Africa An Indian-themed arts festival which aims to celebrate the culture and creativity of the Asian country will be held in South Africa next month, it has been announced.

The Shared Histories Festival, according to Xinhua Net, will feature an appearance from Indian novelist Shobha De, as well as film showings and a literary festival.

Taking place from Saturday 6th September, the arts celebration will span six weeks and marks the third year that the event has been held in South Africa.

Crowds will be treated to Indian dance, with performances from Johannesburg's Tribhangi Dance Theatre and prominent flautist Pundit Hari Prasad Chauraisa, the news provider adds.

Furthermore, 13 South African yoga schools will take part in workshops held by both Indian and South African non-government bodies.

According to South Africa Tourism, there are almost one million Indians living in South Africa today, representing the largest group outside of India and Pakistan. Meet the editors...
