The latest cooperation between Air India and Singapore Airlines may be of interest to people who regularly book flights to India.

Frequent fliers boosted by Air India and Singapore Airlines partnership

Air India and Singapore Airlines have announced a partnership that will benefit frequent flyers with both carriers.

A new bilateral frequent flyer programme agreement between the businesses means that passengers on both airlines can now redeem miles on flights offered by either company.

Both airlines claim that this will offer their customers a greater level of choice as well as increasing the number of available routes.

Commenting on the collaboration, Huang Cheng Eng, executive vice president of marketing and the regions at Singapore Airlines, said: "Those who frequently fly on Singapore Airlines and Air India now have more opportunity to increase their frequent flyer miles and more choice in deciding how best to use their miles."

Singapore Airlines, which is part of the Star Alliance - a global network of commercial aviation companies - flies to six destinations in India, a total of 42 times per week.

Air India is one of the latest carriers to join the alliance, along with Aegean Airlines and TAM.
