Kerala home to new Taj Mahal replicaA Kerala resident has built a replica of one of India's most famous monuments in commemoration of war heroes, freedom fighters and victims of the Mumbai terror attacks.

People booking holidays to Kerala may want to go and see this labour of love during their trip.

Mr Kumar, 58 and a former navy officer, has given up all of his property in order to raise the funds to build the monument.

The replica Taj Mahal is 45 feet tall and made out of white stone, which Mr Kumar says is symbolic of peace and love.

He is expected to complete the building next year and has said that he will display photographs of the people who have given their lives as a tribute.

"Anybody can come and visit this place and know about our great warriors," Mr Kumar commented.

The four minarets around the structure represent the Indian air force, navy, army and other security forces.

Kerala is situated on the south-west coast of India and was chosen as one of the top 50 destinations of a lifetime by the National Geographic Traveller.
