Solar eclipse visible across AsiaIndia, Thailand and Sri Lanka are among the countries that will be able to see the annular eclipse due to happen on January 15th next year.

Travellers booking holidays to India may be interested in the astrological event, which will be the longest annular eclipse in the third millennium.

An annular eclipse of the sun is a rare occurrence and one that could be made even more special by watching it on a tropical beach, such as those on Koh Samui in Thailand.

In addition to star-gazing, holidaymakers can participate in a number of activities offered by resorts on the island, including waterskiing, scuba diving or simply enjoying the sun.

Also known as a "ring of fire", an annular eclipse occurs when the moon blocks the central part of the sun, making it appear to have a bright ring around it.

The last eclipse of this kind took place in January this year and was visible across parts of the Indian Ocean region.
