Qatar Airways launches new route to BengaluruPeople booking flights to Bengaluru in India will have another option from early next year.

Qatar Airways has announced that it will be launching flights to the city from its Doha hub at the beginning of February.

The Bengaluru route will be the first of three launches which will see the carrier expand its international network.

This will be the 11th destination served by the airline in India and will mean that the company operates 71 flights to the Asian country each week.

A daily service will be put in place, taking passengers from Doha to the city in the southern state of Karnataka.

In addition, Tokyo and Ankara will also be added to Qatar Airway's growing network later in the year.

Akbar Al Baker, the firm's chief executive officer, commented: "India has been and remains one of our most important markets and we are pleased to be strengthening economic and cultural ties with one of the world's fastest growing economies."

Earlier this year, the airline successfully launched new routes to Amritsar and Goa, with four flights per week touching down in each destination.
