Holidays to India boosted by Channel 4's India Winter season

More people are booking holidays to India following Channel 4's season of Indian films and programmes, it has been revealed.

Holidays to India boosted by Channel 4s India Winter seasonThe number of Brits booking flights to India with the intention of visiting the country to work in orphanages has received a boost of late.

According to The Year Out Group, many people have been inspired to travel to the country following Channel 4's India Winter season, which has seen the broadcaster showing films such as Slumdog Millionaire and documentaries including The Slumdog Children of Mumbai.

Spokesperson for the association Marcus Watts commented: "Lots of viewers saw the way thousands of young children live on India's streets and have felt inspired to do something to help them."

He added that volunteers can make a difference to the children who live in the country's orphanages by working overseas.

Channel 4 also ran a photography competition in conjunction with its series of programmes.

The broadcaster invited viewers to send in their images of India, with the best 25 entries receiving a copy of Slumdog Millionaire.
