Taking holidays to India is a great idea for people with families, one newspaper has suggested.

Booking flights to India a great idea for families

Although booking flights to India may not seem like the first thought for a family holiday, one newspaper has urged British tourists to consider visiting the country with their children.

Christopher Middleton and his family compiled a list of the top ten reasons that a family should visit India for the Daily Telegraph.

According to the travel writer and his offspring, the best thing about the country is the range of vegetarian food on offer.

This is followed closely by auto rickshaws and the Indian use of English, which Mr Middleton described as "old-fashioned, elegant but inventive".

Other things to make it into their top ten included incense, live cricket on TV and "lots of gods".

Mr Middleton and his family came up with the recommendations after a trip to the state of Rajasthan, which boasts cities such as Jaipur and Pushkar and is home to some of India's most famous monuments, including the Jaisalmer Fort.
