Explore the forest on holidays to ThiruvananthapuramFor people looking for an alternative holiday in India, booking flights to Thiruvananthapurum could be the way to go.

A new travel company in the area is offering visitors the opportunity to stay in the district's forests with an Indian tribe, Asian Lite revealed.

The news provider explained that holidaymakers can now trek into the forests and get back to nature by staying with a local tribe and learning about the local wildlife and culture.

Head of Vyomayan Holidays Mr Altaf told the publication: "Those who opt for a night package are treated to the cultural programmes of the local tribes."

He added that guests are served local cuisine and stressed that it is a great option for nature lovers.

Anyone who does not want to spend the night in the forest may prefer to take one of the single day packages.

Earlier this month, an eco-tourism company based in Kerala was shortlisted for an international award. Tour India offers a range of packages, including its Periyar Tiger Trail, which enlisted local poachers as guides to help protect the endangered species and offer trekking holidays for travellers.
