Travellers offered tips for eating outHolidaymakers who would like to sample the gastronomic delights of their destination and seek out some authentic flavours while abroad may wish to take note of the advice of one travel expert.

Nick Trend, writing for the Daily Telegraph, states that in order to get a real taste of a country's cuisine, travellers should ditch the typical tourist restaurants.

For this reason he says it is wise to avoid the recommendations of hotel staff and holiday reps, as while not always the case, they can sometimes misunderstand what people really want from their dining experience.

Mr Trend suggests looking for locals will allow holidaymakers to see whether or not it's a tourist eatery and heading down hidden streets could lead travellers to the destination's more authentic restaurants.

Those who have booked flights to Sydney may wish to sample the delights of three restaurants in the city that recently made the 'world's best' list.

Eateries Quay, Marque and Tetsuya's all made the exclusive list of San Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants Awards.
