Honeymoon destinations becoming more adventurousBrides and grooms-to-be may wish to book flights to India and experience a very different type of honeymoon, after a travel expert has revealed that couples are opting for increasingly adventurous post-wedding holidays.

Jane Anderson, editor of 101honeymoons.co.uk, says the traditional two weeks on a beach honeymoon is being abandoned in favour of more unusual trips.

"Gone are the days when couples would simply jet off for a fortnight of sun on a beach. Today's newlyweds are increasingly travel savvy and want an added wow factor," she advises.

Ms Anderson notes that increasing numbers of newlyweds are abandoning the idea of staying in a hotel altogether and prefer sleeping under the canvas in luxury tented camps in destinations such as India.

Those travelling to India on their honeymoon can opt for a 1920s-style British-Raj safari adventure at the edge of the Ranthambhore National Park or perhaps a stay in the Serai luxury desert camp, where they can explore villages, sand dunes and ancient temples.
