Get up close with tigers on holidays to IndiaHolidaymakers who have booked flights to India may wish to get up close and personal with tigers in the Satpura National Park.

Brian Jackman, writing for the Daily Telegraph, advised the area is India’s “best-kept secret” and offers animal lovers the opportunity to track wild tigers on foot.

Even if a tiger is not spotted, this is sure to be an interesting experience for adventurous holidaymakers, as trekkers can see the fresh tracks of tigers and traces of the animals throughout the park.

Ranger Hashim Tyabji said: “I truly believe that walking enables you to get to know and understand the jungle in a way that is simply impossible by Jeep.”

Other delights of the animal kingdom that holidaymakers can spot while in the Satpura National Park include leopards, sloth bears and wild dog.

However, the area isn’t the only part of India to be commended for its responsible tourism - in 2009, Sunderbans Jungle Camp on Bali Island won a Responsible Tourism award for successfully demonstrating that generating a sustainable livelihood is possible without harming the environment.
