Parents prepared to take kids out of school to get cheap flightsWith the summer holidays approaching, a new poll has found that 44 per cent of travellers believe that it is unfair that prices increase dramatically during the school holidays.

These respondents also stated that they "would not hesitate" to book a trip during the school year, potentially allowing them to take advantage of the cheap flights to Egypt and other foreign destinations.

Researchers for HolidayExtras.com noted that just 28 per cent of parents said that they would never take their children out of school during term time.

However, 19 per cent believed that taking primary school children away before the holidays "would not do much harm".

According to statistics released by the Department for Education in May, the second most common reason for absenteeism among schoolchildren was a family holiday.

The government agency revealed that children collectively missed approximately 2.5 million school days during the autumn term in 2009.
