Kolkata gets new hotel

Anyone who is travelling on flights to Kolkata will be able to take advantage of the latest resort to open in the city.

People who have booked cheap flights to India may find that they want to visit Kolkata once they arrive in the country.

And if they plan to take flights to Kolkata during their holiday then they could stay in the newest hotel to open in the city - a Swissotel.

It is the first establishment to be constructed in India by the international hotel chain.

Guests booking into the hotel before September 15th will receive a special introductory room rate to mark the opening of the company's new Indian resort.

The hotel features 147 rooms and suites, as well as four restaurants and bars, a spa and fitness centre and a rooftop swimming pool, which offers views across the city.

Kolkata is located in the state of West Bengal and was the capital of British India until the early 20th century.

Among Kolkata's many tourist attractions are the Victoria Memorial, the Birla Planetarium and the Marble Palace.
