The world's largest aircraft, Emirates' A380, popularly titled super
jumbo, made its grand entry to Delhi at the brand new gargantuan terminal,
T3 amidst warm welcome and humungous excitement. Emirates had flown in
around 517 passengers on this Dubai to Delhi flight. At IGI T3 the
overwhelmed guests were given traditional water cannon reception in
celebration of the super jumbo's historical first flight to the chic
Terminal.
True to its reputation for luxury travel at 43,000 ft from the sea level,
Emirates provides utmost comfort and pleasure to both business and economy
passengers. The first floor of this magnificent 4 storied airline has
several first class private suites with electronic doors, and a business
class that houses fully-flat seats; and the lower deck of this superb
carrier is the economy class with over 400 contoured seats.
Further, Emirates keeps up its bravura image of unparallel luxury
provider by extending to its business class passengers the lavish private
suites, shower spas and an onboard lounge proffering a wide range of drinks
and food and space to relax and socialise.
Apart from these, all passengers have access to its wide array of
entertainment facilities such as more than 1,000 channels on-demand,
including 200 movies from around the world, 100 television channels, around
500 audio channels and over 100 video games.
Matching with this Royal Jumbo Airbus' exclusive features are the
features of the ultramodern infrastructure of IGI T3 Airport - the Terminal
handles around 12,800 pieces of luggage an hour; has some 95 immigration
counters, around 97 moving walkways, and 78 departure gates with
aerobridges. T3's modern aerobridges and moving walkways whisked off the
passengers from the double-decked mammoth carrier across the immigration
desks to the luggage counter at an amazing speed.
Visibly pleased Majid Al Mualla, the senior vice president for West Asia
and Indian Ocean, of Emirates said "We brought the A-380 to Delhi to show
the importance we attach to the Indian market. We have had a healthy load
factor of around 80-85 percent to India". Given the potential of Indian
market, strength of bilateral ties with the UAE and Delhi emerging as a hub
it is likely that there would be more Emirates flights to Delhi.
The landing of the Emirates' A380 indicates that the terminal is fully
functional and that there would be more A380 flights to Delhi now.
