SpiceJet increases flights to IndiaLow-cost carrier SpiceJet is planning to expand its flights to India over the coming months.

The airline recently began offering flights from Chennai to Colombo and is planning to add other routes to its portfolio.

Chief commercial officer of SpiceJet, Samyukth Sridharan, explained the expansion could include flights to Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi – all possibly within the next six months, reports Sri Lanka's Daily Mirror.

"We plan to start flights between Colombo and Mumbai for the winter season and Delhi by summer. We are hoping to fly through the southern cities of India by that period," Mr Sridharan added.

SpiceJet is expecting initial seat ticket sales to be around 80 per cent for the next few months as the service becomes established.

The airline has experienced 22 per cent growth in passenger traffic over the past six months.
