India is a year-round destinationIndia is an ideal destination for travellers, according to the country's ministry of tourism.

Rajen Habib Khwaja, secretary of the Asian nation's ministry of tourism, explained India is a year-round destination and people will need to visit the country more than once to fully experience all that it has to offer.

"Besides the fantastic cultural and heritage tourism products, India today offers a range of new products in adventure and sports tourism, both soft and hard.

"One can go for mountaineering in the Himalayas or white water river rafting in Ganges or discover the Valley of Flowers at one's own leisurely pace," explained Mr Khwaja.

He also explained that the country's regional destinations are set to become more popular as rural tourism grows in popularity. This could lead to more people taking flights to India and visiting areas away from the traditional tourist hotspots.

Recent figures published by GTR Global concluded that India's hotels have seen a six per cent rise in occupancy in the past month.
