South India top tips publishedPeople booking flights to India and heading to the southern part of the country may benefit from a list of top tips published by other travellers.

The Daily Telegraph asked its readers to send through their top travel tips for south India and has published a number of suggestions in the newspaper.

Advice includes steering clear of certain foods such as salads and ice creams in order to keep tummy problems at bay, while bananas with broken skin should also be avoided.

Sharing water bottles is also a bad idea, the reader's suggestion noted, even in "smart, international-style hotels".

In addition, the publication included a list of "don'ts" for people travelling to south India.

"Don't take your rubbish with you - leave newspapers, plastic bottles, and so on, on the train; the station kids will collect everything and sell it ... [and] don't expect drivers to be able to read your written directions," it advised.
