India's top romantic hotels revealed

The Taj Lake Palace hotel in Udaipur has been named the most romantic hotel in India by travellers.

The Taj Lake Palace hotel in Udaipur has been named the most romantic hotel in India by travellers.

Travel site TripAdvisor based the ratings on reviews submitted by consumers as part of the 2011 Travellers' Choice Hotel Awards.

Offering guests the choice of 83 rooms and suites, the hotel also has a spa, bookshop, swimming pool and games room.

One review of the Taj Lake Palace praised its special atmosphere and remote feel.

"It is very peaceful and tranquil and sometimes feels like you have the whole place to yourself. It is one of the most romantic hotels situated in a lake. The white imposing building in the middle of lake pichola is a sight to behold".

Other Indian hotels that could also appeal to those taking flights to India for a romantic getaway include the Zuri,Kumarakom, Kerala, the Machan & Camp Canopy,Lonavla, Maharashtra and the Honeymoon Inn, Manali, Himachal Pradesh.
