Indian travelling tips from The Apprentices Nick HewerTo many Brits up and down the country he's the glowering sidekick of Lord Sugar on The Apprentice, but Nick Hewer is also a well-seasoned traveller, as he revealed in a recent interview.

The 67-year-old told the Daily Telegraph that, while he is not a big fan of crowded places, he is always excited to catch flights to India.

"It's fun to go to the races in Calcutta and put money on in the underground betting arena and watch this great heave of humanity. Or even to take the Rajasthan Express from Calcutta to Delhi. So it's partially about tranquillity and beauty," he said.

Among his tips for would-be explorers of the Asian sub-continent was one particularly sage gem: "Wet wipes. Anywhere in central Asia, they're indispensable. They are worth their weight in gold."

The reluctant TV star also advised visitors to India to avoid guided tours and explore the region on their own steam.
