India set to welcome Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton is to spend time in Delhi on a state visit later this month.

India set to welcome Hillary Clinton US secretary of state Hillary Clinton will be landing in New Delhi this month to undertake strategic talks with the Indian government.

People hoping to catch a glimpse of the former first lady could book flights to Delhi, after it was announced by the Indian Foreign Ministry that Ms Clinton will be travelling to the city on Tuesday July 19th.

The visit will be the first by a senior member of the US government since president Barack Obama arrived for a state visit in November last year.

Representatives of the Indian government said it is currently planning a schedule of events for the politician to enjoy during her stay in the country.

Spokesperson Vishnu Prakash told the AFP news agency: "We are working on a programme."

It was also revealed that Ms Clinton will be taking flights to Chennai, a hub of investment and trade activity in India, in order to further cement relations between the US and India.
