Delhi Metro Rail network to be extendedPeople coming into India on flights to Delhi in the future may well find travelling around the country easier, thanks to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, which is extending its network by 103 km.

Kamal Nath, union minister for urban development, noted that this is the biggest infrastructure development that has ever been permitted in the country, comprising three extensions and two new lines and taking in 67 new stations, Rail.co reports.

"As urbanisation is taking place, there is an immediate need for better mobility services, such as Delhi Metro for safe public transport system," the official added.

People getting off flights to Delhi in 2016 will be able to make use of the new network, as this is when it is due to be completed.

Drivers in Delhi may well have to pay a congestion charge in the future, according to the Times of India, so more travellers in the country might find the Metro network of use.
