Goa offers sun, sea, sand and spiceTravellers looking for a relaxing break in the sun but with a twist could be planning to take flights to Goa this year.

The region is a fantastic way of enjoying a traditional beach break but with the excitement of spending time in the vibrant culture of India, according to Joe Bindloss, an author with Lonely Planet.

"India's favourite beach destination offers an intoxicating blend of sun, sea, sand and Indian spice," Mr Bindloss said.

He explained people who want to escape the busy tourist hub of the popular resorts around Candolim and Anjuna should head to the beaches south of Panaji, with those around Cavelossim and Palolem offering an insight into the stunning coastline which first attracted people to holiday in the region.

As well as fantastic beaches some people could be tempted to take flights to Goa in order to attend its annual film festival, which showcases some of the best of Indian and world cinema.
