Delhi Metro to receive accessibility upgrades Travellers heading on flights to Delhi could find the city's system of transport is easier to navigate as plans are announced to make them more accessible.

The Delhi Metro is set to see 800 new lifts and escalators installed in order to make it easier for people to travel from the stations to the platforms.

Upgrades come as the network prepares to make a series of changes to increase the areas covered and make access easier for the thousands of people who use the trains every day.

"We will add 800 more lifts and escalators which will provide safe and convenient movement inside the Metro stations in upcoming Phase III," said a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation representative.

A series of improvements have been made to the train network which may benefit those taking flights to Delhi, with two new energy substations recently being installed to power the services.
