Executives combining holidays with workA growing number of business executives are unable to let go of their work and will continue to make contact with the office while abroad, it has been found.

Research from Credant Technologies discovered that 83 per cent of the workers surveyed planned to take their mobile phone or Blackberry with them on holiday, while over one in three said they would be taking their laptop.

Meanwhile, a diligent 18 per cent said they would view their work emails two or three times a day instead of relaxing in the sun.

Michael Callahan, senior vice-president and chief marketing officer for Credant Technologies, said: "Whether it's paranoia on the part of employees, or unrealistic demands from employers, the fact is that this summer numerous workers will be accessing the corporate network from all over the globe."

Business owners wishing to encourage their employees to work while on holiday may wish to book them flights to South Africa, since the World Travel Awards have named either Cape Town, Durban or Johannesburg as the best conferencing venue in Africa every year since 2001.Meet the editors...
