Beaches in both Thailand and South Africa have made it onto a list of the world's best beaches published by Conde Naste Traveller.

According to the magazine, people on holidays to South Africa should ensure they visit African Beach in Hermanus from June to September, where visitors can watch southern right whales.

"They come in so close that you can watch them from the clifftops," the magazines states.

Meanwhile, Koh Hood could be an excellent place for the environmentally-friendly when a new resort opens on the beach later this summer.

Conde Naste advises travellers to Thailand to try the local cuisine, including hot and sour fish ragout and sugar cane juice.

Meanwhile, visitors to South Africa should sample local meats, including curried lamb chops, bush-pig and boerwors sausage, the magazine suggests.
