Daredevil Brits shun beach for bungeeBritish holidaymakers are increasingly choosing adventure breaks instead of opting for a fortnight lazing on the beach, it has been found.

According to research from private bank Cater Allen, 54 per cent of people intend to participate in some kind of activity while abroad, with trekking and scuba diving top of the wish-lists for many.

Extreme sports such as sand-boarding, white water rafting and bungee jumping were also found to be popular among daredevil holidaymakers.

Richard Dunn, managing director at Cater Allen, said: "This research shows that Britons are moving away from the traditional European family holidays and becoming more adventurous in their holiday choices."

However, he added, people should ensure that their activities do not lead to higher costs for insurance and flights.

Anyone considering an adventure holiday could follow in the footsteps of Prince Harry, who took his holidays to South Africa last month.

While there, he bungee-jumped from the 700 ft high Bloukrans Bridge, the world's biggest jump.Meet the editors...
