Holidays chosen for best exchange rateAn increasing numbers of people are choosing breaks outside Europe - such as holidays to South Africa - in order to save money on exchange rates, one company has found.

Currency service Travelex reported that the euro does not currently offer good value for money against the pound, so people are heading to non-European countries to avoid it.

According to a poll by moneysupermarket.com, almost a third of people are considering doing this on their next holiday in a bid to cut costs.

Julian Neal, global marketing director for the company, said: "We have noticed increases in currencies where [the exchange rates] are particularly favourable, like the South African rand."

South Africa is seen as one of the world's best destinations for adventurers. It offers a multitude of sports, including diving, hiking, mountaineering, white-water rafting and shark spotting.
