Blatter visits South Africa football venuesPeople planning holidays to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup tournament will be pleased to know that Fifa president Sepp Blatter has given the country's stadia the thumbs up.

He is visiting South Africa for a four-day tour, in which he will investigate all the match venues, as well as meeting with officials and leaders of the country.

Mr Blatter will also meet with former president Nelson Mandela, which he says he is eagerly anticipating.

"I'm very impressed with the building progress of the stadium so far. It is big and looks great," he commented after overseeing construction on the Green Point Stadium.

Mr Blatter added that he hopes a South African nation will reach at least the semi-finals of the forthcoming tournament, a feat it has never yet achieved.

Anyone interested in booking flights to Johannesburg for the World Cup may be interested to know that there are only 632 days until kick off as of today (September 16th).

Tickets for the matches will be available through Fifa in 2009.
