Business travel passengers reveal airline preferencesA new survey has revealed that prices and schedules are the most important factors for people choosing an airline for work-related travel, which may include companies booking flights to South Africa for business.

Some 76 per cent of professionals said they liked the travel associated with their jobs, but 82 per cent cited flights being on time as important to them, research by ExpertFlyer.com found.

It was discovered that smaller companies are being more careful about where they spend their money, which Chris Lopinto, partner at ExpertFlyer.com, said should encourage airlines to offer a competitive service.

"For the most part, business professionals enjoy the travel aspect of their jobs, along with the personal contact it provides with their co-workers, but the survey also revealed some interesting trends in business travel which should put the airline industry on alert," he commented.

Anyone looking for a foreign destination in which to hold meetings could consider South Africa, where the World Travel Awards have named either Cape Town, Durban or Johannesburg as the best conferencing venue in Africa every year since 2001.
