Anyone wishing for a fun, scenic destination for a break may wish to book holidays to Cape Town, one newspaper has suggested.

The Miami Herald ranks the South African city as Los Angeles where Johannesburg is New York, calling it "glitzy and gorgeous".

"Cape Town holds its own with Johannesburg and no other African city combines heart-stopping beauty and historical gravitas so effortlessly," the paper enthuses.

For visitors to Cape Town, the article recommends dining on springbok medallions infused with bitter chocolate or calf's liver with a pumpkin fritter and pineapple chutney at the trendy Aubergine restaurant.

It also suggests a trip to the Africa Café for a more traditional meal combined with the tourist hotspot of a ceramic shop.
