Delta Airlines offers flat bed luxury for passengersUS-based carrier Delta Airlines has announced that passengers will be able to benefit from the luxury of a full-flat bed on selected flights as of summer 2009.

In what may be good news for business passengers, people travelling on flights from London Heathrow to New York will be the first to experience the new 180-degree beds, with the airline potentially rolling out more soon afterwards.

Glen Hauenstein, Delta executive vice-president of network planning and revenue management, said: "We are pleased to add the consistency of 180-degree full flat beds to all Delta flights operating at the world's No.1 business airport - Heathrow."

The airline also announced that it will implement a third non-stop flight to New York's JFK airport, allowing passengers to choose between a morning, early evening or late evening departure.

Delta Airlines offers services to 287 destinations in 58 countries, including flights to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Dubai, among other cities.
