Business travellers still want face-to-face meetings

Younger businesspeople would rather meet with their clients and colleagues face-to-face, even if this means travelling overseas to do so.

This is according to Kevin Mitchell, chairman of the Business Travel Coalition, who said that while companies may have to send only one person abroad to cut costs in future, people in business will still travel.

"There's a whole new generation of business traveller coming into commerce in their 20s and their first instinct to solve a problem is to jump on an aeroplane," he remarked.

Last month, James Fremantle, industry affairs manager for the Air Transport Users Council, said that people travelling for business purposes are more willing to accept delayed flights because they travel frequently and can use designated lounges.

Anyone travelling for work-related matters may be interested in booking flights to South Africa, which currently ranks 28th on the Union of International Associations' top meeting destinations, hosting 23 per cent of all business liaisons on the continent.
