Cape Town prepares for tourist invasion

As more people plan to go on holidays to Cape Town in the coming months, the local government has said it is to implement a coordinated plan to ensure that visitors get the best out of their stay.

As more people plan to go on holidays to Cape Town in the coming months, the local government has said it is to implement a coordinated plan to ensure that visitors get the best out of their stay.

Over a million people are expected to visit the city on the western coast from November 2008 to January 2009 for South Africa's peak travel season and Dumisani Ximbi, mayoral committee member for safety and security, said the city is ready.

"The City of Cape Town extends a warm welcome to all visitors. It will do its best to enhance their stay and ensure their safety," he remarked.

In related news, Dr Laurine Platzky, head of the provincial government's World Cup team, has said that South Africa intends to host the best World Cup tournament yet when it kicks off in 2010.

For anyone interested in booking flights to South Africa for the World Cup, the tournament begins in 573 days.
