Suggestions for a safari holiday in South AfricaPeople thinking of taking safari holidays in South Africa could consider the Great Karoo region, where they can visit the Camdeboo game reserve.

Pascal Wyse, writing for the Guardian, said he recently took such a break there and would highly recommend it.

He reported having seen a wealth of wildlife, including vervet monkeys, baboons, terrapins and buffalo, as well as being led by guides who are also heavily involved in conservation efforts within the reserve.

"I see what makes this location unique. Here, hugged by the Sneeuberg mountains, there is a pick-and-mix of habitats up to an altitude of 5,000ft. There is a feeling of being truly alone," Mr Wyse remarked.

The writer also said that he particularly enjoyed seeing and tracking from a distance a female cheetah with a group of cubs.

Safari organiser Leora Rothschild recently recommended safari holidays as an ideal learning experience for children, as well as for couples on their honeymoon and adrenaline junkies.
