British travellers are getting more adventurousPeople from the UK are opting for more adventurous holiday destinations, the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) has revealed.

Spokesperson Frances Tuke said that people are increasingly looking for out of the ordinary things to do in order to be as far removed from everyday life as possible.

"People to a certain extent are booking away from Western Europe. [They] are wanting to go mid and long haul, because [they] are getting more adventurous," she remarked.

Abta recently discovered that 32 per cent of people said they go on holiday in order to get away from their normal routine, while 19 per cent said the time they could spend with friends or family is the most important thing about a holiday to them.

Holidays to South Africa could be ideal for those looking for an adventure, since it is one of the best places in the world to cage dive with Great White sharks.
